CASRA Survey Results

Attached are the J105 Fleet 5 results from the CASRA survey (J105 CASRA Responses) .  These are yours to utilize in whatever manner Fleet 5 deems best, to improve & grow racing.

As a fleet you had a great turnout, with a total of 10 boats responding to the survey.  Lots of interesting content here, with some of the questions & responses being more significant than others.  If there are questions on any aspect of the survey drop a note to this CASRA email address & we'll get you responses.  

CASRA & the five founding clubs thank you for your participation in the survey. We look forward to an invitation to your spring meeting to further progress racing in Chicago.

Crew MVP's

This year's Fall Party at Aquanaut Brewing Co. was another huge hit with all. Great beers and good times were had by all in attendance. A big thank you to our hosts at Aquanaut!

We could not get around the course without a great crew. New this year the Captains recognized our MVP Crew Members: (from left to right) Sean Wilson (the Asylum), Mike Brown (Vytis), Victor Gonzales (Caught in Traffic), Donald Hanson (Esprit d'Ecosse), the Mike Better    (Flying Pig), Brian Sandberg (Phantom), Russell Radke (John standing for Russ, Sealark), & Justin Olsen (Striking).  Also, Joe Saccone (Global Nomads) was unable to join the festivities that evening.

A big shout out to all the crew, thanks for a great summer. The sailing was spectacular & the parties were awesome. Can't wait until next summer.

J105 Best On Lake Michigan (BOLM)

2018 J105 North Americans

The Class Executive voted yesterday to accept a proposal for CYC & Little Traverse Yacht Club to host the J105 North American Championship in July 2018. The Chicago-Mackinac race would be  a long distance navigation race and then as part of the Ugotta Regatta in Harbor Springs, MI fleet buoy races would be the North American Championship.

This a great opportunity for boats to do their bucket list of a Mac and a NA Championship back to back. Traveling boats will also be encouraged to hang around for the Verve Cup.

There a lot of details still to be worked out, but mark the date on your calender's now. The J105's are always the largest One Design Fleet for the Mac & the Ugotta Regatta is a great event in a beautiful setting. With more than 42 boats signed up for the NA'a latter this month in Larchmont, the J105 Fleet is stronger than ever. This could be the sailing event of a lifetime.

We will talk more about this at the Fleet 5 Meeting this coming Saturday Oct. 15, 10:00 am at CYC's Belmont Station.
